What is a natal chart
A natal chart (radix, from the Latin radix - root) is an accurate two-dimensional astronomical snapshot of the celestial sphere, recorded in the geographic coordinates of the place and second of a person’s birth. It is a 360° pie chart divided into 12 sectors of the zodiac constellations and 12 astrological houses. Unlike popular tabloid astrology, which takes into account only the Sun sign, a real natal chart combines the coordinates of all planets (Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto), the angular aspects between them and the cardinal axes (Ascendant and Midheaven).
How to read and analyze a natal chart
1. Cardinal axes (Asc and MC)
Determine the ascendant sign (Ascendant) - it is responsible for the first impression, physical body and manner of presentation, and MC (Medium of Goals) indicates the career vector and status.
2. Luminaries (Sun and Moon)
The sun expresses the will, the conscious “I” and the vector of creative self-realization. The Moon is the subconscious, deep emotional security and a way of adaptation.
3. Personal and social planets
Mercury (thinking), Venus (choices and values) and Mars (action) show the instruments of the psyche, while Jupiter and Saturn determine social growth and discipline.
4. Grid of houses and cusps
The houses show 12 specific areas of life (finance, partnership, health, career), where the potential of the planets unfolds.
5. Aspect drawing
Harmonious trines and sextiles provide talents without resistance, while squares and oppositions create challenges and the main engines of development.
How to work with a natal chart in Astroprognostic
In the Astroprognostic processor, natal is calculated based on Swiss Ephemeris algorithms with an accuracy of 1 arc second. The interactive SVG wheel supports smooth zoom and rotation (shift-snap to 30°), switching of 6 house systems (Placidus, Koch, Whole Sign, etc.), instant tooltips when pointing at planets and aspect lines, as well as switching detail levels (basic and expert modes).

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do you need to know the exact time of birth down to the minute? ▼
The Earth makes a full rotation every 24 hours, so the house cusps and Ascendant move about 1 degree every 4 minutes (15 arc minutes). An error of even 5 minutes can shift the cusp to an adjacent sign or house.
How does a natal chart differ from a horoscope? ▼
The horoscope in glossy magazines describes the average forecast for just one Sun sign. The natal chart is unique for each person and takes into account hundreds of astronomical parameters.
Is it possible to change the influence of the natal chart? ▼
The natal chart reflects starting potential, temperament and scenarios. Astrology indicates areas of growth and points of tension, conscious work with which transforms problems into large-scale results.
