Saturn Return: when it happens and what it means
A free, precise calculator for your Saturn return dates, based on your own birth chart — powered by the Swiss Ephemeris, not rounded-off tables.
A Saturn return happens when transiting Saturn comes back to the exact zodiac degree it occupied at your birth. Because Saturn’s orbital period is roughly 29 years and 5 months, this happens about once every 29.5 years — which is why ages 29-30, 58-59 and 88-89 are so well known in astrology.
It is one of the most widely recognized age milestones in traditional astrology: the first return is usually associated with the end of a formative period and the start of the next life stage, the second and third with taking stock of maturity and later life. Between returns, Saturn also forms squares to its own natal position roughly every 7-7.5 years (the classic "Saturn square" ages) and an opposition around the midpoint of each cycle (roughly ages 14-15 and 44) — softer but still noticeable milestones.

How we calculate it
A precise calculation from your birth coordinates and time via the Swiss Ephemeris, converting local time to UTC through the correct IANA timezone — this matters for charts with Soviet/post-Soviet birth times, where timezone borders and daylight-saving rules changed repeatedly.
A return is not a single instant but a transit within orb of your natal position; because Saturn goes retrograde, it typically forms three exact passes. Build a free chart to see every Saturn transit across your whole life on one page, with exact dates and your age at each one.
